Champagne comes only from Champagne, France!
Our map, with its distinctly coloured areas, highlights the four main growing sub-regions within the official Champagne appellation: Montagne de Reims (purple), Vallée de la Marne (green), Côte des Blancs and greater surroundings (yellow) + The Greater Côte des Blancs surroundings of Montgueux & Vitryat (yellow) and Côte des Bar (blue) – with smaller areas (“terroirs”) within each group.
Each region has unique geographical features, micro-climates and soil types, known as terroir, and even when the same variety of grape is used, you will find the resulting champagnes differ greatly.
