Basset Signature Collection pays homage to Gérard Basset, co-founder of Lehmann Glass, and the greatest wine professional of his generation. Gérard Basset originally trained as a chef in France before immersing himself in the world of wine upon his relocation to the UK in the 1980s. Achieving the unthinkable, Gérard remains the first and only individual to be simultaneously awarded the qualifications of Master Sommelier, Master of Wine and MBA in Wine Business. In 2010, Gérard was crowned the prestigious title of Best Sommelier of the World, and received an OBE in the UK a year later. Gérard was also an esteemed hotelier and, in 1994, co-founded the Hotel du Vin luxury chain. As tribute to one of the industry’s most inspiring and indefatigable leaders, the glassware of the G.
