Jm Sélèque has been based in the village of Pierry since 1965, when grandfather of the current winemaker, Jean-Marc, planted his first vines. Jean-Marc has been at the helm since 2008 and with his astute vision has transformed the House into one of the most highly sort after grower producers.
A new cellar and a rename of the Estate further solidifies their strong future.
The House farms a total of nine hectares over 45 different plots across six additional villages, adding Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne terroir to the House’s base in Coteaux Sud d’Épernay.
Diversity in terroir allows Jm Sélèque to produce wines with many personalities, which is also cleverly reflected in the name of their core ‘Sollessence’ cuveés; translated in English as ‘essence of the soil/ground’.
All work in the vineyards is organic and in the winery processes are slow and considered; aligning with their goal of producing the best ‘clean’ wines with minimal need for added chemicals.
The house states their intention beautifully, aligning their champagnes with a musical score; “Our champagne blends are the fruit of a musical score, whose notes are imbued with the climate, soil, labour, patience, expertise, origin and history of our vineyards. As humble performers we present the music to you.”
