In Thoughtful Company: A Reflection on Emotional Elegance

There are moments in a creative journey when your work is quietly seen—and deeply understood. Recently, I experienced one of those rare moments of recognition through a thoughtful and beautifully written feature on The Juliet Report. With gracious discernment and creative curiosity, Juliet invited me into a conversation—one that now forms part of her new editorial series: considered conversations with people who notice what they notice.

Titled Champagne, In Focus: A Conversation with Sally Hillman, the feature is more than an interview – it was an elegant exchange between like-minded creatives who understand the art of intention. With 40 French-inspired recipes and curated pairings, the book invites readers to savour more than flavour; it invites a mood, a mindset, and a gentle return to presence.

Juliet understood what I was attempting to shape—before it was fully revealed—and for that, I am quietly grateful. Her feature marks not only the beginning of a new season for the book, but the beginning of a broader conversation. One centred on modern rituals, soft luxury, and the soulful cadence of the everyday.

In our conversation, we explored the emotional language of champagne: how memory, mood, and place find their way into the glass. How grower-producer bottles tell stories of people and terroir. And how the simple act of choosing the right glass, at the right moment, can elevate a weekday meal into something quietly transcendent.
