The G. Basset Signature Collection pays homage to Gérard Basset, co-founder of Lehmann Glass, and the greatest wine professional of his generation.

Since its launch in 2012, Lehmann Glass has become synonymous with oenological excellence and is globally recognised as ‘The Wine Lover’s Label’. Created by Gérard Lehmann, renowned glass designer, and Gérard Basset, sommelier extraordinaire, the French glassware brand unites expertise, passion and innovation for a transformative wine tasting experience that stimulates a symphony of the senses.

Gérard Basset originally trained as a chef in France before immersing himself in the world of wine upon his relocation to the UK in the 1980s. Achieving the unthinkable, Gérard remains the first and only individual to be simultaneously awarded the qualifications of Master Sommelier, Master of Wine and MBA in Wine Business. In 2010, Gérard was crowned the prestigious title of Best Sommelier of the World, and received an OBE in the UK a year later. Gérard was also an esteemed hotelier and, in 1994, co-founded the Hotel du Vin luxury chain.

As tribute to one of the industry’s most inspiring and indefatigable leaders, the glassware of the G. There are three glasses in the G. Basset Signature Collection—Hommage 72, Hommage 69 and Hommage 45—all of which are Ultralight machine-made, designed with exceptional finesse and optimal lightness to highlight and enhance the excellence of fine wines. Just as haute couture accentuates precise contours, each Hommage glass is tailor-made to emphasise and heighten the expérience of a particular wine style, varietal or occasion.
