Pierre Gerbais Grains de Celles NV Magnum



After receiving a wedding gift of three little plots across 0.4ha, the eponymous Pierre Gerbais began experimenting with distinct vineyard soils for champagnisation, steadily expanding the family’s holdings (with Pinot Blanc in particular) and placing the House at the forefront of the Côte des Bar. Grains de Celles is the bottle incarnate of Pierre’s life’s work in diverse terroir selection, and incidentally, an exact representation of the Domaine’s holdings today, comprising 50% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Blanc from the House’s 20 plots across 17.5ha.

Fruit is manually harvested and vinified in vats, undergoing malolactic fermentation and maturation on fine lees. Disgorgement occurs 6 months prior to release and dosage is set at 3–4 g/L.

A distinguished cuvée that honours the keen observation and devoted selection work over eight generations of growers in the Gerbais family, Grains de Celles is not to be missed by champagne enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.


Opening with clean aromas of preserved lemon, nashi pear, wet stones and brioche, Grains de Celles broadens into muscular flavours of pear and apple with skins and stems, yellow plum and red cherries, carried by a strong backbone of acidity over a powerful and mineral-driven finish.
