Brut Millésimé 2012 is a vintage Champagne blend of 55% Pinot noir (mainly selected from the Grand Cru Village of Bouzy, the spiritual heartland of Pinot noir) and 45% Chardonnay (mainly selected from the Premier Cru village of Écueil), with a vine age of over 30 years.
Made exclusively from first-press juice, slow vinification takes place in barrels (60%) and tanks, and malolactic fermentation is avoided. The cuvée undergoes long maturation in bottle for 5 years before disgorgement by hand. This release was disgorged in June 2019, and contains 4 g/L dosage.
A savoury, umami-rich fragrance excites the senses immediately, followed by ripe rockmelon, sea shell, vanilla essence and marzipan. On the palate, a seamless transition of opulent flavours: yellow apple, peach, quince, guava and juniper berry, sprinkled with baking spices and ginger, and a light touch of caramel. Finishing long with wonderful minerality, Brut Millésimé is delicate in its finesse, yet assertive in its complexity, yielding vast depth and breadth for the great explorer to discover and delight in.
