Chartogne-Taillet 2011 Beaux Sens

A vintage 100% meunier champagne from the tiny lieu-dit (named place) Beaux Sens, of ungrafted vines planted in 1955. Beaux Sens lies closer to the chalky bedrock and is covered by just over a metre of Thanetian sands, protecting the vines from phylloxera and allowing the House to keep some old Meunier without grafted rootstock. 1900 bottles were produced for this vintage. Disgorged in June 2016 with 3g/L dosage.

It’s a wonderfully pure, intense red-fruited champagne, with a long salty finish.
