Agrapart 'Complantée' NV

Originating from a single parcel in the Grand Cru village of Avize, Complantée comprises six of the seven permitted grape varieties in the appellation: Chardonnay, Meunier, Pinot noir and the ‘rare’ varieties of Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Pinot blanc.

All fruit is co-planted (complantée) and hand-harvested together from a specific portion of vines named La Fosse à Bull within the renowned La Fosse vineyard that bears the celebrated Agrapart Vénus cuvée. Through Complantée, Agrapart preserves and promotes the region’s ‘forgotten’ grape varieties and the ancient practice of co-plantation to achieve exceptional and delicately balanced expressions of terroir.

This release is based on the 2015 harvest, with 20% composed of reserve wine from 2014. Fruit was co-fermented and barrel-aged before its bottling without filtration in May 2016. Disgorgement was in March 2019, with dosage of less than 5 g/L.

Complantée immediately captivates with a bouquet of citrus and chamomile, steadily hypnotising with a layered palate of apple, brioche, lemon and spice. Yellow peach ripens throughout the dry, lingering finish, and the after-palate races with terroir-driven minerality and classic chalky undertones. At once crisp and complex, the multitude expressions of terroir are in elegant equilibrium.
